From 08/11/2012 To 22/12/2012

« PRESENCE » is a gathering of human figures, carved in wood, modeled in clay, painted, cast in bronze or in silver. Markus Hofer - Le Tour de la Réalité

Markus Hofer - Le Tour de la Réalité

From 06/09/2012 To 20/10/2012

Vienna-based artist Markus Hofer (Austria, 1977-...) develops his work around cognitive dissonance. Each sculpture disturbs the eye and generates confusion through a new form of «trompe-l’oeil», urging the visitor to look, to stop for a moment, then look again.
Hence the title of this new show the «Tour of Reality». Everyday objects come to life, grow and intertwine. The artist takes pleasure making havoc of their reality, often with a touch of humor, or sometimes through a mild form of irritation. The objects are carefully selected and acquire a fresh layer of meaning as the result of his sculptural interventions. Our usual patterns of perception are turned upside down but also expanded and put in a new context. Sculptures become «active matter», as he sometimes calls them, referring to their independence and their dynamic components, which reinterpret subject matter and give the appearance of being in perpetual motion; evolving from one meaning to the next.

Alice Pilastre

Alice Pilastre

From 08/03/2012 To 14/04/2012

Alice Pilastre ventures between very ancient techniques and resolutely contemporary forms of art. Tapestry/textile and music are at the base of her work. Her «Ritournelles» are a poetic diversion from the traditional music boxes and invite the visitor to interact with the artwork, generation random or controlled music. A nostalgic leap back in time meanwhile a surprising look into Alice’s world of dreams.

Natasja Lefevre

Natasja Lefevre

From 19/01/2012 To 26/02/2012

"There is something poetic about the empty shell of a cadaver, the stare of a dead, unseeing eye. The tension between life and death is captured in their shape. With my photos, I wanted to reflect on death as anecdote, present the polarity of life and death.” Lefevre’s work in clay continues to explore the duality of existence: the eternal versus the transient, the visible versus the invisible. Her sculptures always strike a balance between the mysterious and the ordinary.
