“Confluence of Cultures” • Munana GATERA
Munana Gatera, a Rwandan-Belgian artist known for his multidimensional and
pluri-disciplinary approach, is set to present his newest creations at LKFF Art Projects in Beersel, in November 2024. Gatera’s work transcends traditional boundaries, blending elements of his Rwandan heritage with global cultural influences to craft compelling visual narratives.
Initially trained in fashion and modeling, he began painting at the age of 25, redirecting his career to focus on the arts. His latest series features intricate paper cut installations, a medium through which he explores themes of identity, memory, and transformation.
Self-taught and ever-experimental, Gatera employs unconventional techniques, ranging from weaving canvases to sculpting with paper. His artworks evoke emotions and challenge the viewer’s perceptions of time, space, and culture. Gatera has collaborated with prestigious brands and designers, contributing to collections for companies like Didden & Co. His upcoming exhibition promises to be a vibrant exploration of the intersection between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary artistic expression.
Join us for the cocktail opening at LKFF Art Projects on November 24th, in presence of the artist.
The exhibition will run until January 25, 2025.
