Khaled DAWWA • sculptures

From November 22, 2026 to January 23, 2027
Opening vernissage on Sunday 22 November, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
For Khaled Dawwa, art is both an act of resistance and a testimony to the profound upheavals that have shaped his homeland. Since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution in 2011, his work has explored themes of oppression, displacement, memory and human resilience. Having experienced imprisonment before leaving Syria, Dawwa’s sculptures, often powerful and deeply expressive, give physical form to the fragility of human existence and weight to oppression. His monumental 6-metre installation Voici mon Cœur, depicting the ruins of Damascus, has been exhibited at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, Louvre-Lens & Museum Beelden aan Zee in The Hague. The work now belongs to the collection of the Mucem in Marseille.
