“Art is as natural as sunshine and as vital as nourishment.” –MaryAnn F. Kohl

Since the birth of my little girls Jo (2012) & Vicky (2015), art has been part of their lives. I had the joy of decorating their bedrooms with engravings I received from my grandfather, with small enamelled porcelain boots created by Natacha Lefevre or watercolor drawings by Velasco Vitali. None of these works were created ‘for children’, yet they are part of my girls lives and they love them. They wouldn’t imagine ever parting with them.

This joy of living with art, of transmitting this passion to the next generation in a way that is as obvious and natural as transmitting the joy of baking – or playing football – is something I have been wanting to share for a long time.

This new project I would like to present is therefore titled «Transmission».

LKFF has been working alongside artists to bring a selection of artworks whose subjects will trigger interest in contemporary art. The key to this trigger is interaction – interaction between the young viewer, the artwork and the (grand)parent/or the gallerist. By asking the right questions and handing some small keys to understanding a work of art, we can bring inspiration to young minds & open their creativity…

This is an exhibition for everyone. So please don’t expect unicorns and teddy bears. The goal is to push back the boundaries of what is considered suitable art for children.

The artists featured in the exhibition: Hanneke BEAUMONT, Jeroen BEIRENS, Beth CARTER, Maarten CEULEMANS, Alessandro FILIPPINI, Manuel GEERINCK, Atelier les DEUX GARÇONS, Xavier LE NORMAND, Yaël OHAYON, Claudine PETERS-ROPSY, Henk VAN RENSBERGEN & Velasco VITALI.

Find the first artwork your child can treasure for a lifetime.
One is never too young to start an art collection.
