Lucien MURAT

L

ucien Murat is fascinated by the concept of the end of the world, its representation and its impact on the “collective unconscious”. His canvases are patchwork of carefully chosen old- fashioned classic decorative tapestries one could find in each grandmother’s home in France – sewn together. Under his paintbrushes, they are transformed into immense colorful tapestries, questioning the fantasized grandiose of chaos, constantly flirting between absurd and grotesque.

Biography

    • 1986Born in France
    • 2005 – 2006Foundation Course at the Atelier de Sèvres, Paris
    • 2007 – 2010Murat studies Fine Arts at the prestigious art school of St Martins in London.
    • 2015Lucien MURAT receives the ARTE / Beaux-Arts Magazine Prize at SLICK Paris.
    • 2017Lucien Murat is invited for a residency in the US at the ESKFF Foundation

Murat designs the 20 years anniversary label for Tracks / Arte

Entre Tracks et Lucien, c’est une histoire qui dure depuis un moment. Déjà lauréat 2015 du Prix Arte / Beaux-Arts Magazine et désormais, pour l’anniversaire « 20 ans, toujours à côté de la plaque », Murat offre sa version de Tracks avec des pixels, des chiens méchants et des flingues !
