avier le Normand streeft naar een voortdurende herwaardering van zijn technieken, op zoek naar nieuwe texturen en effecten in de materie. De kunst van het glasblazen fascineert hem. In zijn kunst confronteert hij de onmiddellijkheid en de voortdurende beweging van het blazen van het brandende glas met de tijd die hij investeert wanneer hij het koude glas bewerkt en opnieuw vorm geeft. De kunstenaar haalt zijn nooit aflatende inspiratie uit zijn vele reizen over de hele wereld, waar hij de allerbesten ontmoette, zoals Monica Guggisberg & Philippe Baldwin. Zijn sculpturen lijken wel denkbeeldige geografieën, doorkruist door vreemde rivieren of vulkanen; onbekende gasachtige planeten; veelkleurige sferen die de toeschouwer fascineren. In 2009 werd Xavier le Normand laureaat van de prestigieuze “Prix Liliane Bettencourt pour l’Intelligence de la Main”.

  • 2001European glass worker Companion’s Diploma at CERFAV, Lorraine, France
  • 2001Le Normand learns the glass blowing tehcniques at CERFAV “Centre Européen de Recherches et de Formation aux Arts Verriers”, Lorraine, France
  • 2004Scholarship awarded by the City of Paris.
  • 2008The artist is granted the “Lino Tagliapietra” scholarship for a masterclass in Pilchuck, in the State of Washington
  • 2009Teaches glass blowing techniques in the University of Tokyo where he is granted the honorifictitle of Sensei. Tokyo, Japan.
  • 2009Xavier le Normand is laureate of the prestigious “Prix Liliane Bettencourt pour l’Intelligence de la Main”, Paris, France
  • 2016Xavier collaborates with Cartier & Fred joaillerie.
  • 2017Xavier le Normand lives and works in Paris
